MySide is a serious board game that can be used to support MS therapy by bridging the knowledge gap between the MS patient and their loved ones.
MySide can be personalized by Tessa and her locopational therapist to fit her situation. She can bring the board game home, to play and communicate the difficulties of MS and help the people close to her understand and empathize with her choices and priorities. Through the guidance of her therapists, the game can reflect her current situation, and over time if her symptoms change, so will the game.
In MySide the players will have to prioritize energypoints on Tessa’s weekly activities, and they will reflect how much energy each activity requires for her. The MS symptoms affecting each round, will be the same symptoms Tessa is struggling with in real life.
MySide is a cooperative game, where each player have to fullfill individual missions based on Tessas activities. This communicates how she has to prioritize between the things she wants to do, while saving enough energy to avoid burnout and maintaining a happy and balanced lifestyle. Through mutual understanding of how MS affects her lifestyle, Tessa and her loved ones can stay together, as they are included and she’s understood.
